Two new European routes are on the horizon for Etihad Airways . The carrier has confirmed that it will begin services to Prague and Warsaw next year, both of which will be new destinations for the airline as it continues to diversify its European network. Coming up Czechia The airline will fly directly to Czechia for the first time when flights to Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) begin on June 5th, 2024.

The service will be operated four times weekly and provide additional connection opportunities across Etihad's extensive network from Abu Dhabi International Airport . The Prague and Warsaw flights will both be operated by Etihad's Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which seat 28 passengers in business class and 262 in economy.



Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, expressed their excitement for the new routes to begin: “We are proud to introduce Warsaw and Prague as our newest destinations, reflecting our commitment to expanding into new and exciting markets. "These routes not only enrich our network but also offer a great opportunity to strengthen ties with these countries and attract more visitors to Abu Dhabi. We see this as a key part of our growth strategy, helping to drive tourism and support the UAE’s vision for the future.

" The connection to Czechia comes as the nation grows as a source of visitors to the UAE. The flights are expected to promote inbound tourism and provide connections to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, and Australia. The program allows transiting passengers to get out of the airport and enjoy a free stay for up to two nights at their preferred hotel in the capital of the UAE. The Czech capital was last served from Abu Dhabi in 2014 with narrowbody flights from flag carrier CSA (the world's fifth oldest carrier is now being merged into Eurowings ).

According to Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, talks to resume a direct service have been underway ever since: “We are very pleased that after almost 11 years, and a number of negotiations, it is now possible to confirm the launch of a connection between Prague and Abu Dhabi by Etihad Airways and the carrier’s Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner. The airline will start flying to Prague for the first time in its history, so the agreed frequency of four flights a week is also a great outcome of our negotiations. "With this step, our network of long-haul flights is expanding again, and we are able to offer passengers another important Middle East destination with great local potential and a network of connecting flights to Asia, Africa, and Australia.

” There is indirect competition to Prague from Dubai thanks to a flydubai Boeing 737 MAX service and a daily Boeing 777 flight with Emirates. The latter service has carried over three million passengers since it began in 2010. Welcome to Warsaw Warsaw will be the other city to get a direct Etihad connection next summer.

Flights to Poland’s charming and historical capital (the restored Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site) will begin on June 2nd, 2025. The flights will run four times weekly and are set to be operated by the carrier's Boeing 787s. Construction could begin at the end of this year ahead of a 2028 opening.

The connection between Abu Dhabi and Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) will face no direct competition based on existing airline schedules, but Emirates and flydubai offer indirect alternatives via Dubai.
