KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, emphasized the significance of ethics and values in the medical profession during a recent episode of the “Concepts” program on Kuwait TV. He stated that the ethics governing health professionals are deeply rooted in historical practices and have evolved significantly due to technological advancements and societal changes over the past decades.

Al-Sanad highlighted that adherence to these ethical standards is crucial for the successful operation of health systems and institutions. He noted that violations of these ethics are rare and typically involve individual cases rather than systemic issues. The adherence to medical ethics is essential for achieving the best outcomes in healthcare.

He further discussed the importance of effective communication skills in the medical field. According to Al-Sanad, these skills are vital for success in all aspects of healthcare work, often regarded as equally important as administrative and clinical abilities. Effective communication, he explained, is more than just exchanging information; it is fundamental to the success of medical care.

Al-Sanad referenced Law 70 of 2020, which underscores the role of communication in the practice of medicine and the rights of patients. He pointed out that the quality of the relationship between health practitioners and patients is critical for accurate diagnosis, adherence to treatment plans, and overall patient reassurance and well-being.
