New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted following a federal corruption investigation , following him giving Sean "Diddy" Combs the key to the city last year . The indictment remained sealed Wednesday night, with its contents unknown . If charges are made public, Adams would become the first New York City mayor to be criminally charged while in office.

Combs, who Adams gave the key to the city to, was arrested last week and charged with sex trafficking Adams, a retired police captain who campaigned on being tough on crime, responded to the report in a statement: Diddy suspiciously refused to answer question in unearthed Oprah Winfrey interview Candace Owens says Diddy will be ‘protected’ in jail because he knows too much "I always knew that If I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target—and a target I became," Adams said. "If I am charged, I am innocent and I will fight this with every ounce of my strength and spirit." Sean "Diddy" Combs recently returned New York City's Key to the City after Adams requested its return earlier this year.



The key, awarded to Combs in September of 2023, was returned on June 10, six days after Adams sent a letter requesting its return. In the letter, Adams wrote: "I was deeply disturbed" by the assault footage. He added, "I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.
