Prayagraj: Pilgrims and tourists in Maha Kumbh-2025 will get a new experience of travelling by mini-cruise over the Ganga. Prayagraj Mela Authority is planning to run hydrogen-powered mini cruise between Prayagraj and Varanasi. The journey of this mini cruise, equipped with various hi-tech facilities, will be made memorable as passengers will get to visit Chunar Fort, Mirzapur, and Vindhyachal along with the turtle sanctuary.

This hydrogen mini cruise has been built in Kochi having about 20 tonnes load capacity. This ship has been brought to Varanasi via Ghazipur and Kolkata. Around 55 people will be able to travel at a time on the 28-metre-long and 5.



8-metre-wide ship. Its speed will be 20 to 25 km per hour. As it will run on hydrogen, the ship will offer a pollution-free travel experience.

Kumbh Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand said that this ship will attract people in tourist places like Kashi and Prayagraj. The operation of hydrogen watercraft will be responsibility of the tourism department . The mini-cruise will operate from Varanasi to Prayagraj via Chunar.

For this, the work of channelisation of the river Ganga is about to start. Under this, gauge and dredging work will be done. A trial run of the cruise will be conducted before making it operational.

In this regard, talks have been held with the officials of Prayagraj, tourism, and officials of the National Waterways Authority of India. Along with waterways, New air-conditioned e-buses will run between Prayagraj and Varanasi. Having comfortable seats and reasonable fares, this will be the first time that e-buses will be run by UPSRTC during Maha Kumbh .
