Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reopened the Anna Canteens in Gudhiwada on August 15th. Although the initial plan was to reopen over 200 canteens simultaneously, only 100 were launched in the first phase, with construction ongoing for the rest.

During the inauguration, Naidu emphasized that the canteens' main goal is to ensure that the impoverished do not go hungry. Meals at the canteens are priced at just ₹5, benefiting underprivileged daily wage earners and laborers. Naidu, accompanied by his wife Bhuvaneswari, shared a meal with local residents and announced plans for the canteens to operate permanently.

Each canteen will serve hygienic meals to around 350 people, with the capacity to expand as needed. The government will allocate ₹200 crore annually for their maintenance..
