Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) removed encroachments at the city's mobile spares and accessories market, Marimata Lane , and at Squirrel Circle , after getting complaints from citizens and elected representatives. The drive was taken up at Marimata Lane as it had become extremely congested. Officials and elected representatives of the area had received numerous complaints about encroachments.

Some boards that had been put up without permission in the area were removed. Officials also undertook a drive to survey buildings for possible encroachments. By Wednesday evening, two platforms encroaching on the road were identified.

Officials from the two wards in which the area falls were present for the drive, alongside a team from the encroachment and security department. An extension of a convenience store was removed at Squirrel Circle in Kalali. Parked vehicles were spilling onto the road, causing traffic snarls.

The decision to remove the store's illegal extension was taken based on repeated complaints from commuters..
