One of the things Emma Hansen has come to know since moving here three years ago is that Rochester welcomes individual style. “Take a walk downtown,” said Hansen, “go sit at a coffee shop, at Café Steam, just people watch and you will see what I mean.” For Hansen, that is just one of the many positives of Rochester.
“After I moved, here” Hansen continued, “I started getting more involved with the theater community and spent more time with various people in the Queer community. I've stage managed or run some sort of backstage assistance with almost every theater group in the greater Rochester area and am currently a board member of Absolute Theatre.” Hansen, who lives with a sister, grew up just south of Rochester in Racine and in a home school family of 13.
“After high school,” they said, “one of my first jobs was at Home Federal Savings Bank in Spring Valley.” An opportunity at the bank’s main Rochester location eventually brought he here to live. ADVERTISEMENT “For me,” Hansen said, “the longer I’m in Rochester, the more I see how varied the style is and the more I understand how varied the city really is.
” Please tell us a bit about your style? I don’t really have a specific style. I tend to wear a lot of lace, but it's kind of just all over the place. There are a lot influences, including some historical influences.
Victorian fashion is very interesting to me because of the tailoring. There's a lot of that influence when I'm buildin.
