Motorists faced delays on the motorway network in and around Bolton this morning following a number of cashes. Emergency services were called to the M61 involving four vehicles. It occurred southbound between Junctions 8 (Chorley) and 6 (Horwich) at 9.
17am. North West Ambulance Service has confirmed that one casualty was taken to hospital as a result of the collision. .
Queues remained in place following an incident on the M60 involving one vehicle. The incident occurred at around 9.06am (Thursday 2nd January) at Junction 24 (Denton Island).
(Image: Martini Archive) All emergency services attended including National Highways officers. Two lanes of the motorway (lanes two and three) were closed for the safe recovery of the vehicle. No casualties were taken to hospital as a result of the incident.

Traffic is still expected to be slow on the M60 whilst the road continues to clear. A spokesperson from National Highways said: "For the M61, a collision involving four vehicles happened at 9.
