About the Embraer Phenom 100EX As previously mentioned, the Phenom 100 is a very light business jet produced by Embraer. The Phenom 100 first began development in the early 2000s. Embraer wanted to enter the business jet market with a series of light jets.

This would eventually lead to the development of the Phenom 300, one of the world's most flown private jets , along with the Phenom 100. The company first announced the Phenom 100 in November 2005 at the annual National Business Aviation Administration (NBAA) conference. The first prototype conducted its maiden flight in July 2007.

In December 2008, the Phenom 100 received its type certificate from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Brazil's National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC). Deliveries of the aircraft began later that year. Since its introduction, Embraer has produced nearly 500 Phenom 100s.

The Phenom 100 consists of a mostly aluminum airframe, although composite materials make up 20% of the frame. The shortened fuselage is capable of seating a maximum of seven passengers, although this requires a passenger in the cockpit and a passenger in the belted lavatory. Standard configuration seats up to five passengers.

Embraer selected Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617 turbofan engines, which provide just under 1,750 pounds of thrust each. The Phenom 100EX is the latest upgrade of the popular Phenom 100. These upgrades include both more headroom and legroom in the cabin.
