Elon Musk is facing ire on social media for allegedly downplaying the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. During his interview with former US President Donald Trump on X, the two joked that nuclear power is facing a "branding problem" and that it needs to be rebranded. The issue spread like wildfire after CNN played an edited piece from the interview where Musk was talking about how the two cities have rebuild themselves after the horrific bombings in World War II.

CNN selectively edited Donald Trump and Elon Musk's conversation to claim they said that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings were not a big problem. The full context shows they were talking about nuclear energy. via @TrumpWarRoom pic.

Turns out Musk was actually talking about nuclear energy which can be harnessed to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Plus the accidents in Ukraine's Chernobyl and Japan's Fukushima makes the case of nuclear energy weaker.

But Musk claimed that condition in Fukushima is not that bad and recalled his trip to the town. Would someone inform the dumbest man on the planet, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not accidents. Both were intentional annihilation of two cities, with generational devastation for decades.

@elonmusk is a human horror monger. A malignant sociopath and truly stupid. pic.

But he topped it by noting that Hiroshima and Nagasaki are fine now.— Tom Nichols (@RadioFreeTom) August 13, 2024 Musk: "Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed but now they're full cities again." Trump: "That's great.

That's great." Musk: "Yeah so it's not as scary as people think." Great job boys, just lost one of our most important allies in Asia pic.

However, the edited clip has gone viral and is evoking strong reactions. Some criticised his opinions on the Fukushima disaster while one called him "horror monger." ALSO SEE: Elon Musk’s X Files Lawsuit Against Major Companies Over Advertising Boycott; ‘Tried Peace, Now It’s War’.
