The sound of boisterous, cackle-like laughter out in public stirs instant memories to those who loved Elizabeth Marie Ritchie. She’d been known for her joyous chortle since childhood, and the sound would later reverberate through the halls of Charleston hotels. Many remember her rosy red-orange dyed curls, dramatic eye liner, red lip and passion for fashion.

Always recognizable and always donning a smile. But Ritchie's life was upended after she was publicly and violently assaulted in downtown Charleston. The 29-years-old's joyful laughter was mostly silenced.
