Elegy Coffee in East Nashville On Saturday, Elegy Coffee announced in an Instagram post that the local coffee chain will expand into the space formerly occupied by Dozen Bakery in Wedgewood-Houston. The new storefront is expected to open in spring 2025 and will serve as the fourth location for the cafe opened by the team behind The Fox Bar & Cocktail Club. "We’re honored that Dozen is passing the torch on to us, and we can’t wait to make the space our own," reads the post .

"We’re beginning renovations in early spring, and we’ll be sure to keep you all posted on our progress as we work! We can’t wait for you all to see what we’re cooking up." In April, Dozen — a beloved bakery that's even garned some national acclaim — announced plans to move into a new location in Woodbine in 2025. An Instagram post from last week showed renovation underway at Dozen's new building at 2522 Grandview Ave.



, though a specific opening date has yet to be announced. Dozen Bakery Elegy is taking over one of the busiest storefronts in the area with its expansion to 516 Hagan St. Dozen's owner Claire Meneely previously told Scene sister publication the Nashville Post that sales have increased 500 percent since opening in 2015 — hence the need for a newer, bigger space.

Elegy Coffee has been earning its own buzz since first opening in East Nashville in 2020. Like Dozen, it has won a few Best of Nashville awards, including a recent writer's choice in 2024 for Best Coffee-on-the-Go ..
