LAS VEGAS — On Friday, Dakota Eldridge continued his fight for his first-ever steer wrestling world championship. After failing to get down on his steer in Round 5 during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Eldridge battled back with a second-place 3.9-second run in Round 6, shared the victory in Round 7 with a time of 3.

5 and ranked sixth in Round 8 on a time of 4.1 seconds. On Friday, in Round 9, he kept the ball rolling — splitting second place with a 4-flat.



On the run, Eldridge stacked up another $23,364. After the ninth round, Eldridge maintained his $13,352 lead in the PRCA world standings with $287,798 in earnings for the season. J.

D. Struxness — who tied Eldridge for second and third with a 4-flat of his own in Round 9 — was in second place with a total of $274,446. Struxness was eighth in the average — the cutoff for an aggregate check — with an eight-steer total of 32.
