Born on June 7, 1938, in Morrill, Nebraska, to Clarence and Oris Duncan, Eldon was raised in and around Huntley and Veteran, Wyoming. Growing up, Eldon and his brothers were known for being quite ornery, with countless stories told of their mischievous adventures and playful spirits.
He graduated from Huntley High School in 1956 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
During his three years of honorable service, he served aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt as a photographer. Eldon had a gift for telling stories through pictures, capturing moments that preserved memories and highlighted the beauty in everyday life.
While on the ship, Eldon played many sports, including baseball, where his talent as a pitcher was so impressive that he was offered a tryout to the St. Louis Cardinals as a 100 mph fas.
