Among two songs nominated from the Spanish-language musical Emilia Pérez , “El Mal” was declared the best original song – motion picture at Sunday’s (Jan. 5) 2025 Golden Globe Awards . The award went to the French married couple of singer/songwriter Camille and composer Clement Ducol, along with Emilia Pérez director Jacques Audiard.
“This is such an American experience,” Camille — who was the only one of the three honorees to speak onstage — marveled to big laughs after making her way to the stage through tables filled with megawatt celebrities at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. “Songs are butterflies,” she went on, “and we need butterflies, even if it’s to denounce corruption in the world.” Camille also thanked Emilia Pérez stars Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldaña (who had earlier in the evening won the award for best performance by a female actor in a supporting role in any motion picture) for bringing “El Mal” to life in the film.
