Logo: ROAD RAGE Pune: A group of eight young men on Wednesday night attacked and abused a 25-year-old SUV driver over honking near Dandekar Bridge in the Parvati area. The attackers pelted stones at the victim's sports utility vehicle (SUV) and damaged its windscreen. A resident of Warje Malwadi, the victim owns a furniture showroom in Bhavani Peth.

He approached the Parvati police and lodged a complaint on Thursday. Sub-inspector I D Shaikh and his team from the Parvati police arrested two 18-year-old youths and detained three minors in connection with the attack. The suspects have been charged under sections 125 (act endangering personal safety of others), 126 (wrongful restraint) and 189 (unlawful assembly) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).



An officer from the Parvati police said the complainant was returning home in his SUV after closing his furniture showroom on Wednesday night. "When he reached Dandekar Bridge chowk, three scooters in front of him almost blocked the road. Eight youngsters were travelling on them.

The scooters' drivers initially gave the victim the way after he honked. Soon after, two of the vehicles again blocked his way. When the complainant honked again, their drivers and the pillion riders started abusing him," Shaikh said.

According to the complainant, he ignored them and drove towards Sinhagad Road. "The suspects chased him and blocked his way near Panmala Vasahat on the Sinhagad Road. One of them threatened him with a billhook," the police sub.
