The primary agenda of the meeting was to increase the flow of tourists from Singapore to Egypt, responding to the rising interest among Singaporean travelers in Egypt’s rich cultural and beach tourism, including the country’s renowned diving spots. Both parties also discussed Egypt’s potential participation in the upcoming ITB Asia tourism fair, the largest event of its kind in Asia, scheduled to take place in October in Singapore.

This participation could serve as a strategic platform for Egypt to showcase its tourism offerings and attract more visitors from the Asian market. Investment prospects in Egypt’s hospitality sector were another focal point of the conversation. Ambassador Goh expressed the keen interest of Singaporean real estate developers in contributing to Egypt’s efforts to expand its hotel capacity.

He emphasized the importance of fostering joint investments to bolster the hospitality infrastructure in Egypt, enhancing the country’s ability to accommodate and attract more tourists. On the archaeological front, the discussion touched on potential collaborations for hosting temporary exhibitions in Singapore. These exhibitions would aim to showcase Egypt’s ancient civilization and rich cultural heritage, which are highly appealing to Singaporean tourists.

Ambassador Goh commended the visitor experience at the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing it as highly enjoyable and indicative of Egypt’s strong cultural tourism appeal. This meeting is part of a broader series of engagements by Minister Fathi with ambassadors worldwide, aimed at cultivating joint relationships and strengthening partnerships in the tourism and archaeological sectors.
