The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the September 21 governorship election, Senator Monday Okpebholo on Tuesday outlined his five points agenda to govern Edo State, if he wins the forthcoming election. This was also as he commissioned two luxurious buses for a free transport scheme for Edo people. Okpebholo, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the APC Campaign in Edo South at the University of Benin, Ekenwan Campus, Benin City said education, security, agriculture, employment and provision of road infrastructure will among others be his top priorities if he wins the election He said earlier before he became the senator representing Edo Central,he had been tarring roads,providing security, clean water, education support and employment to the people of Edo Central.

The former National Chairman of the party and senator representing Edo North Adams Oshiomhole assured that the governorship candidate of the party ,Senator Monday Okpebholo, will ensure good governance from November 12 this year, without Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) or wasting fund on consultancy. Oshiomhole also gave an assurance that Okpebholo would respect the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, and other traditional rulers in Edo state. On his part a former member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Charles Idahosa, who recently defected to APC, also called for debate in Esan language between Okpebholo and the standard bearer of PDP in Edo, Dr Asue Ighodalo, who both hail from Esanland in Edo Central senatorial district.



Again ,ex-representative of Ovia Federal Constituency , Omosede Igbinedion, the daughter of the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion, who also defected from PDP to APC, declared that she could see victory for APC on September 21, with Okpebholo, whom she described as the right choice, to succeed PDP’s Governor, Godwin Obaseki. The reinstated deputy governor of Edo state, Comrade Philip Shaibu, while also speaking at the rally, stated that peace, unity and development were needed in Edo, while urging residents of the state not to be afraid on September 21, and to massively vote for APC. APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Dennis Idahosa, who represents Ovia Federal Constituency stated that the forthcoming poll was about Edo’s future, while admonishing residents of the state to massively vote for the party.

Edo Chairman of APC, Jarret Tenebe, in his address, urged residents of the state to now join APC’s train, in order to be part of the success story, and disclosed that Edo Central rally would hold on Wednesday (today), while that of Edo North would hold on Thursday (tomorrow). Ex-deputy governor of Edo, Dr. Pius Odubu; a former governorship candidate of PDP (in 2016) and APC (in 2020) in the state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; and the Director-General of Edo APC governorship campaign council, Senator Matthew Urhoghide; all urged the electorate in the state to vote massively for Okpebholo and Idahosa, in order to move Edo forward.
