No matter what is on your list to buy this year, or who you have to buy for, we encourage you to take a look at what there is to offer right at our fingertips here in our own community before you venture out of town or online. Need to buy men’s or women’s clothes? There are at least a handful of stores with options.
Want to find quality, handmade, unique gifts that you can’t find anywhere else? There are numerous artisans in our community who make beautiful work. Looking to buy your loved ones tickets to experiences rather than gifts — there are plenty of fun opportunities here, too, with places like Albert Lea Community Theatre, Albert Lea City Arena, the movie theater and the list goes on and on. Take time to venture downtown one afternoon this holiday season.
Walk up and down the street, and you might be surprised at what you will find that you didn’t know was there. You just need to take a few minutes to explore. As we’ve said before, small businesses in the community are our friends and neighbors.
If you plan on spending the money anyway, wouldn’t you rather have that money go to support someone else who will turn around and put their funds back into the local economy? And if we want the community to grow, we have to support what we have. Stay here. Buy local.
