Trap-dancehall recording artiste Eddy G Bomba said his recent single No Cap is now banned on at least one local radio station after he came under heavy criticism due to the song's lyrical content. Though the artiste released No Cap on his Jumanji mixtape months ago, the song recently became a viral hit when his music video visuals of a police officer being hit by a motor vehicle, echoed his lyrics " Mi wi lick dung police a grung ". However, the artiste said that there were other reasons for the ban.
"It's the whole content a di song weh mi a sing bout scamming and dem ting deh. Suh anuh really di police part alone, but a suh it guh man. Mi naah beat dem pon dat still.
Mi did just build di song outta a wild mind, mi neva did even a expect it fi play pon radio or get suh big [and] go out to the world like that," he told THE STAR . Eddy G Bomba said he learnt that his song was banned when his manager tried to secure interviews for him with a popular radio station, and upon selecting songs for the feature, he was told to remove No Cap as it wasn't fit for airplay. In 2022, the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica released an advisory "banning the playing of lewd music which endorses illicit drugs and scamming on traditional media platforms - mainly the radio".
"Mi give thanks same way because mi neva did waah people pree mi like dat like [thinking] mi a come out wid a aggression like dat towards di law. Mi have whole heap more songs before dat but a dat deh one deh dem a hype up -.
