Pune: Renowned economist Sanjeev Sanyal has accepted the post of Chancellor of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), a deemed to be university, in Pune on Sunday. He was offered the post by Servants of India Society , which manages the institute, nine days after another well-known economist Bibek Debroy, also chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, resigned from the position. The society offered him the post which Sanyal confirmed.
He posted on his 'X' account: "This is just to state that I have accepted the Chancellorship of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. Look forward to working with faculty, staff and students to build on GIPE's well-established legacy."
