Thursday, November 14, 2024 In celebration of National Engineering Day, easyJet has joined forces with award-winning social enterprise Stemettes to encourage more young women to explore careers in engineering. The collaboration comes as data reveals that women account for only 15% of engineering apprentices in England. Through initiatives such as school and college visits and engaging with specialist partners like Stemettes, easyJet aims to raise awareness about the profession and inspire the next generation of engineers.
Highlighting female role models within the industry, the partnership underscores the airline’s commitment to addressing gender disparity in technical fields. To further this mission, easyJet has opened applications for its 2025 Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeship Programme . The two-year fully funded program provides aspiring engineers with classroom training, on-the-job experience, a competitive salary, bonuses, and other benefits.
Upon completion, apprentices will become licensed mechanics ready to join easyJet’s engineering teams. As part of the partnership, Stemettes Youth Board member Bola has created an exclusive video offering a behind-the-scenes look at easyJet’s aircraft maintenance operations at London Luton Airport. The video also features insights from Cara Fabre-Simmonds, a Production Planner at easyJet, who shares her career journey and advice for young women interested in engineering.
