EastEnders: Tommy Moon calls police on mum Kat Slater EastEnders ' Reiss Colwell's next victim has been 'unveiled', spelling trouble for Sonia Fowler. The accountant, played by Johnny Freeman, has been grappling with financial stress recently. As viewers will remember, Reiss is married to Debbie, who is in a long-term coma after suffering a stroke.

Initially, Reiss was using Debbie's money to fund his and partner Sonia's (Natalie Cassidy) IVF journey, but with mounting care home fees for Debbie, he resorted to scamming Sharon (Letitia Dean). However, on Wednesday's episode (July 24), things took a sinister turn when Reiss visited Debbie at the care home. He broke down, lamenting his debt and wishing Debbie could communicate with him rather than living a 'pitiful, pointless half-life'.

Reiss then told Debbie that if she died, he could start afresh, moving a pillow from behind her head and kissing her forehead. In Thursday's episode (July 25), it was confirmed that Debbie had passed away, leaving Reiss emotionally overwhelmed but able to hide his guilt. Accompanied by Sonia, Reiss went to the care home where a nurse informed them that they believe Debbie died due to complications from recent pneumonia, reports the Daily Star .
