The highly anticipated themed evening started with a humiliating technical blunder for Jenn Tran and ended with controversial contestant Anna Delvey being labeled a “ungrateful troll” as she was eliminated along with partner Ezra Sosa. The judge, who is the brother of host Julianne Hough , seemed to be unusually harsh with his scoring and his more technical critiques. Viewers quickly took to social media to vent their frustrations, with one particularly unimpressed person even calling to have him replaced.
“[On my way] to replace Derek Hough on the judges panel because whys [sic] he being so harsh tonight,” the person fumed on X (formerly Twitter). Someone else posited: “Do you really think Derek is giving constructive criticism? I get a lot of fluff from him. I think #DWTS needs a serious, experienced head judge.
