DWP and HMRC offices, phone lines and webchat services will also be unavailable due to the August bank holiday. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that on Monday, August 26 Jobcentre Plus offices and phone lines will be closed due the bank holiday. It has also confirmed people due to receive a scheduled payment on that day will instead see the money land in their bank account before the weekend.

This means people due State Pension or benefits including Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance allowance or Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) next Monday will receive the payment on Friday, August 23. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has also confirmed people due Child Benefit or Tax Credits on that date will receive the money on Friday too. DWP said: “To make sure people get their payment on a day when Jobcentre Plus offices are open, some payments will be paid early.

If the expected payment date is Monday 26 August, benefits will be paid on Friday 23 August. All other expected payment dates are unaffected.” DWP said that while the bank holiday is not UK-wide “to align with the bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, DWP offices and phone lines in Scotland will also be closed on Monday 26 August”.

People in receipt of devolved payments from Social Security Scotland are not expected to see any changes to payment dates. However, if this changes, we will update this article. Payments from DWP due to be made on Monday, August 26 will arrive on Friday, August 23.

If your payment is not due on that date it will be paid as scheduled. Payments that may be affected: Payments from HMRC due to be made on August 26 will be made on Friday, August 23. Payments affected: As already mentioned, Social Security Scotland has not announced any changes to payments they deliver, such as Adult or Child Disability Payment and Scottish Child Payment.

If any changes are announced, we will update this article.
