Different party, same result. Incumbent Warren Circuit Court Clerk Brandi Duvall, who had won two previous six-year terms in the office running as a Democrat, earned her third term in the office Tuesday while running as a Republican. Duvall won in resounding fashion, garnering 34,342 votes to defeat Democrat challenger Sonya Kilgo Corder, who received 17,924 votes.
It was the second victory for Duvall over Corder, who ran as a Republican in 2018. Duvall won that earlier race with 23,669 votes to Corder's 15,403. Tuesday's victory with 65.
7% of the vote means Duvall will have six more years as the elected record-keeper for the county’s circuit and district courts. "I feel blessed and honored," Duvall said after the final votes were tallied at the county courthouse. "I feel like my office does a wonderful job for the court system and for the public.
"I hope the job I have done over the past 12 years speaks for itself." Duvall attributed her big victory to "staying on the high road and running a good clean campaign." "I'm grateful to the citizens of Warren County who voted for me and supported me," she said.
"I've had many amazing people behind me." Corder, who worked in the circuit court clerk's office for 16 years as a deputy clerk, supervisor and chief deputy before leaving in 2015, also thanked her supporters Tuesday. "I appreciate everybody who voted for me and helped in my campaign," she said, "although it didn't work out the way we wanted.
