Pune: Two men posing as sadhus deceived a 65-year-old woman from Narayangaon, stealing her gold chain and cash worth Rs70,000. The incident occurred on Thursday, and the woman filed a complaint with the Narayangaon police on Friday. The men arrived at the woman’s bungalow around 8:30am.

"When the woman came out, they started telling her that they would help her by ridding her of her problems," an officer from the Pune Rural police said. The suspects reportedly used a rose, a lemon, and a rudraksh from their bag as part of their ruse. "Another man blew some powder on her face.



The woman then lost her senses and started following their instructions," he said. The men then demanded money and jewelry. The woman handed over Rs3,000 and her gold chain.

The men pretended to perform a ‘puja’ and wrapped the cash and jewelry in paper, instructing her to place it in front of the altar in her house. Once the woman left the room, she noticed the suspects leaving the bungalow and grew suspicious. Upon checking, she discovered that the cash and the gold chain were missing.
