. Duleep Trophy will not be the first time that Shubman Gill is leading side full of Indian cricket stars. Gill was the captain of the second-string Indian cricket team that toured Zimbabwe for five T20Is and he was also elevated as vice-captain of full-strength team against Sri Lanka.

Shubman has shown some decent leadership qualities, and we want to try him to get experience. There are no guarantees, but at this point that’s the thought,” Agarkar had said at a press conference recently. Gill averages a sensational 58.

2 from 47 ODI matches till date, having notched up 2,328 runs with 6 hundreds and 13 fifties to his name, including a best of 208. However, his Test match record leaves a lot to be desired, with a modest average of 35.52 while scoring 1,492 runs with 4 hundreds and 6 fifties to his name.
