BROCKWAY — A week after having its six-game winning streak snapped, the DuBois Beavers football team got back on track Friday night at Frank Varischetti Field in emphatic fashion, upending the Brockway Rovers, 38-24, to spoil Brockway’s Senior Night. DuBois racked up 549 yards of total offense and jumped out to a 31-6 lead just 50 seconds into the fourth quarter before a chaotic final quarter saw five touchdowns among both teams — four of which came in a span of 3:03. The Beavers had an even 300 passing yards as quarterback Trey Wingard was 28-of-38 while throwing two scores.
Nathan Kougher led the attack with a dozen receptions for 138 yards and a score. Fellow receiver Brysen Delaney had double-digit receptions as well, notching 11 for 92 yards as Isaiah Korney had Wingard’s other five completions for 70 yards. DuBois was equally as efficient with its ground game — especially in the first half — as running back Danny Dixon had 23 totes for 204 yards and two scores.
Dixon gashed the Rover defense with 162 yards on nine carries in the first half, busting off a 78-yard score and a 36-yard run in that span. Brockway ran the wildcat with running back Blake Pisarcik at the helm on its opening drive, going three-and-out to start the Beavers’ opening drive that went 10 plays for 86 yards — capped off by Wingard finding Delaney in the back left corner of the end zone for a 1-yard score with 5:59 left in the quarter. Owen McCleary’s PAT made it a 7-0 lead.
