Dublin Conor Griffin, from Dublin. Photo: Netflix Dubliner Conor Griffin has revealed his engagement never aired on Netflix show Love is Blind, but the romance didn’t last beyond the dating show. The shows cameras didn’t follow his relationship with Olivia beyond the pods, a series of small rooms through which contestants can hear, but not see, one another as they date.

Mr Griffin, who owns a food truck called Roots and an ice-cream shop called Spilt Milk in Dublin, was a part of the cast of the UK version of the Netflix series. However, he didn’t get much airtime throughout the 12-part series and his engagement, sight unseen, didn’t get any airtime either. Fellow contestant Olivia, from London, said she fell for the Dublin-based health-food business owner after hearing his accent in the pods.

“The first time I heard Conor, I knew he was going to be trouble for me. His accent was an immediate weak spot. I very much appreciate an Irish man,” she said.

Conor previously told the Irish Independent that the accent “definitely helped me out”, and was pursuing two women until the last minute. “I had an interesting love triangle that went on until the day of proposal. We discussed if we’re going to get married, the possibilities of coming to live in Dublin,” he said.

“I was selling it, the craic, the people here, the pints of Guinness here, all that good stuff. I positively portrayed Dublin. “I wanted to give each connection enough time to see which was the most likely to develop into a happy relationship,” he added.

Olivia admitted they “didn’t have the smoothest journey in the pods” as Conor was “a very popular guy with the rest of the girls”. However, the two took a leap of faith and left the pods engaged, with Conor admitting he shouldn’t have left the decision so late. “I absolutely regret leaving it until the last day to propose to Olivia.

She had a lot of unnecessary stress put on her,” he said. “She was a slow burner who didn’t give everything up at once. She was incredibly ambitious, and we spoke about building a successful and productive future together.

“Olivia was incredibly beautiful and lit up the whole room. It was intense and passionate and just a relief to be able to finally physically be with each other.” While they weren’t selected as one of the couples the cameras followed, they booked a holiday to see if love really is blind.

However, when reality crept back in, their fledgling engagement faced its biggest obstacle - long distance. While they are no longer a couple, Conor and Olivia remain incredibly close. “The fact we had such a strong connection in the pods wasn’t a coincidence.

We ended on amicable terms and have a huge amount of respect for each other,” Conor said.
