Saturday, November 30, 2024 Dubai ’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is rolling out a series of innovative traffic management strategies, introducing Variable Road Toll Pricing, a Variable Parking Tariff Policy, and a Congestion Pricing Policy for event-specific zones. These measures, aligned with Dubai’s vision for sustainable urban mobility, aim to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance the city’s overall transportation system. Set to launch at the end of January 2025, the Variable Road Toll Pricing system, commonly known as Salik, introduces a dynamic toll structure based on time and traffic demand.
Motorists will enjoy toll-free passage between 1:00 am and 6:00 am daily. During weekday morning peak hours (6:00 am to 10:00 am) and evening peak hours (4:00 pm to 8:00 pm), the toll will be AED6. For off-peak hours, including 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm to 1:00 am, the toll will be reduced to AED4.
On Sundays, the toll will remain AED4 throughout the day, excluding public holidays, special occasions, or major events. Motorists can also drive toll-free during the early morning hours from 1:00 am to 6:00 am. This system is designed to encourage off-peak travel, alleviate congestion during busy hours, and provide motorists with flexible travel options.
