Prayagraj: Soraon police on Tuesday arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Balkar Singh (44), a resident of Patiyala (Punjab) and seized 762.12 kg illegal ganja worth Rs 2 crore, truck, fake registration plate and two mobiles from his possession. He was booked under relevant sections.

A senior cop said a team of Soraon police intercepted a truck near Lusanpur village during a checking drive. The racketeer was using fake registration number of the truck to dodge police. He is an active member of an inter-state gang involved in smuggling drugs.



Meanwhile, Kareli police have also arrested a 20-year-old youth identified as Shubham Nishad of Sadiyapur on the charges of kidnapping a minor girl. The arrest was made near Meerapur sabji mandi road while the accused was plotting to escape. The police have recovered the girl.
