It’s not just humans that can enjoy a luxurious spa treatment and five star hotel experience, with businesses now offering that opportunity for our beloved pets. In one such case, a former builder and cat fanatic now provides lavish spa treatments, plush caviar menus, cooled bottled water and more at The Luxury Cat Hotel – which saw one guest being dropped off in a Bentley. Hidden away on the outskirts of Boston , the hotel, on Fenside Road, is regularly visited by furry customers looking for their own five star holiday destination.

The establishment is run by childhood sweethearts, Eddie and Stephanie Morrison, who transformed their derelict barn more than eight years ago. After spending some time away from work, Eddie, 76, who is originally a builder from Bolton in Greater Manchester, started looking for a new pastime. He said: “I was looking for something after being fed up with doing nothing.

We decided to revamp the barn and spent quite a lot of money on it. Even though it was a big investment, I knew it would work. “We are both big cat people so we just thought we would do it.

” The hotel features nine well-equipped suites and a bespoke spa. Each suite is heated and includes various hideaway spots, climbing facilities, toys, a water feature, designer beds and an outdoor viewing platform that overlooks the River Witham. Feline guests can wind down for bed with some mood lighting in the evening and even watch films such as Disney’s Finding Nemo on the smart TV.

For an additional cost, cats can indulge in a range of ‘feline fine’ spa options. Some of the different packages include massages without water, a bedtime treat of creamy cat milk, and an endless supplies of cuddles and entertainment. Eddie said: “We only use John Paul products for our spa treatments as it’s the best product you can get.

We use a thorough dry shampoo, oatmeal conditioner and detangle spray. They then get their teeth cleaned, gums wiped and receive a quick trim and head massage. “We put on some interactive lights to keep them happy whilst they are being groomed.

If the cat is pedigree, they are often used to having this kind of treatment. The additional cost can vary, depending on what the customer wants their cat to have, but it can be around £30.” Owners can choose to treat their cats even more with an alternative dinner menu providing the choice of flaky salmon, chicken or large king prawns, all topped with caviar and served in a porcelain dish.

All of the cats are only given chilled bottled water to drink. Eddie added: “I think it’s worth all of the money we spend on it because it is a hobby to me and I enjoy working with the cats. They seem to like me so we get on.

My wife also enjoys going in and interacting with them – they do get spoiled here. “In the winter we have our heating on 24/7, so it can cost quite a lot, but the cats like to be warm. “We have some quite lavish customers and one of our cats was dropped off in a Bentley car.

People travel from Lincoln , Cambridge and Peterborough and we are always fully booked at Christmas.” The suites are fitted with HD cameras, so owners can watch their cat whilst away on a smartphone app. As well as looking after all of the guests in the cat hotel, Eddie and Stephanie also rescued all of their own cats from being strays.

Eddie said: “We have Harry, Sooty, Dibs, Magic, Ella and Daisy the dog. We both just love animals and if we hadn’t of helped them, they would all be strays. “A lot of the people who come to us want their cats to have their own holiday whilst they are away.

It costs £23 for a single cat per night and if you compare that to a regular cattery which charges £15 a night, it’s quite reasonable. “We are both getting older now so in around 18 months we will probably put it up for sale and see if anyone would be interested in looking after the hotel as good as what we have done.” The Luxury Cat Hotel is not the only place in our area offering elaborate treatments for our fury four legged friends.

The Deluxe Dog and Cat Grooming business on Victoria Street, Spalding , also prides itself with providing a full cat service experience. Business owner Violeta Jaskeviciene, 37, pursued her passion for dog grooming when she was eight years old and after completing seven grooming schools in seven different countries, Violeta became a teacher and judge for a dog grooming academy. She said: “I competed a lot and I just love dogs.

I have noticed that Asian style grooming designs are getting very popular in England. It is very detailed but very cute. “I have also seen an increase in cats coming to see me as well, such as Ragdoll and Maine Coon breeds.

Some of my clients travel from different cities such as London because I am really good. “Our spa treatment for cats is like a full service for them. They receive a bath with multiple different shampoos and conditioners, a mask and lots of products – it makes their coat beautiful.

“Some groomers are scared to do cats but it’s something different. If the cats are matted really badly, sometimes we shave off their fur and give them a lion style but all of the cats that come here normally have a maintained coat. “I just love my work and I can’t imagine changing what I do – the days are hard but when you put the hard work in you get a reward.
