Local artist Duncan Robins hopes his “Stick Figures” — now on view at the Morris Graves Museum of Art in Eureka — encourage folks young and older to take in life’s simple beauty and perhaps explore their own imaginative ideas along the way. “The primary purpose of my creative work is to inspire others to revisit the joy of cloud gazing — to slow down and discover the hidden beauty in everyday objects,” said Robins, whose driftwood sculptures, as well as accompanying spray-painted images, are on view through Feb. 9 on the balcony level of the Morris Graves Museum of Art in an exhibit titled “Human-Nature.
” “I am so excited and honored to have my work exhibited in Morris Graves Museum of Art,” Robins said. “And the staff has done a wonderful job making the works look amazing.” On Saturday, Jan.
11, children and adults are invited to view Robins’ work at the museum and then draw inspiration from his pieces during the Humboldt Arts Council’s “Second Saturday Family Arts Day” from 2 to 4 p.m. (The Morris Graves Museum of Art is located at 636 F St.
, Eureka.) “‘Family Arts Day’ is important to HCA because it helps us connect to our community by getting families into the museum, getting them inspired by current exhibitions and getting them making art of their own,” said Genevieve Kjesbu, Humboldt Arts Council education program coordinator. “Family Arts Day,” a monthly intergenerational art-making workshop, complements current exhibits .
