Drew Doughty has been a staple of the Los Angeles Kings and has helped the franchise hoist two Stanley Cup trophies. This was going to be a promising season for Doughty and the Kings. However, it is already off to a nightmarish start.
Just a couple of days ago, Doughty got injured in a game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The injury looked pretty bad and a lot of fans were waiting with bated breath to see just how bad the damage truly was. Well, as it turns out, the fanbase's worst fears have been confirmed.
The team took to Twitter today and confirmed that Doughty has suffered a fractured ankle. In fact, the fracture is so bad that he needs to get surgery on it. From there, he is going to be out month-to-month.
This means that you probably will not see Doughty on the ice before Christmas or the new year. However, you never really know with modern medicine. Doctors have gotten a lot better at treating these injuries and doing so extremely fast.
That said, Doughty is getting up there in age which certainly adds to the recovery process. Hopefully, Doughty is able to get back on the ice as quickly as possible. You never want to see such an amazing player go down in that kind of fashion.
