A charitable trust has been given a major boost by a shoe company. The Dr. Martens Foundation has given a donation to Crawley based Neurokinex, the UK's leading specialist spinal cord rehabilitation provider, to help fund its Step Up Scheme.

The scheme, which provides six free rehabilitation sessions to people who have suffered a spinal cord injury, costs £450 per person and relies on funding to continue. The donation from The Dr. Martens Foundation will secure this opportunity for 45 people.

The Neurokinex Step Up Scheme was put forward for the grant by a Dr. Martens employee. Golsana Begum, head of the Dr.

Martens Foundation, said: "We hadn’t heard about Neurokinex before it was nominated but were immediately struck by the passion of its staff and the impact of their work. "We are only too pleased to support its life-changing Step Up Scheme and are reassured to know that our support will help open the door to its ground-breaking neurorehabilitation services for newly injured adults and children." Kate Thornton-Jones, Neurokinex fundraising director, said: "The Dr.

Martens Foundation grant brings us much-needed reassurance that we can meet the demand this year from newly injured people and for that we are truly grateful.".
