Second Gentleman 's reaction to his wife, Vice President coming on stage at the Democratic National Convention ( ) went viral on social media. Harris was expected to attend the DNC on Monday for President 's speech, but she surprised everyone by showing up on stage to give brief remarks to attendees. Harris is expected to formally accept the nomination in a speech on Thursday, after winning enough delegates to become the nominee.

After a promotional video advocating for Harris' ability to fight for the country, she suddenly walked out on stage. Cameras cut to her husband, who was sitting with Governor , her vice presidential candidate, and the two men looked shocked to see Harris. Both men were smiling and clapped along with the rest of the DNC attendees.

Emhoff also appeared to say, "I didn't know," in regards to his wife's appearance. Newsweek reached out to the vice president's office via email for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication. Elie Mystal, a former litigator, posted on X that Emhoff looked "surprised" to see Harris and others remarked that it was "cool" for Harris to surprise the audience, including her husband.

Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff weren’t ready for Kamala Harris’ surprise appearance at DNC Night 1. Harris kept her remarks short, only speaking for about two minutes. She expressed her excitement at being at the convention and kept the beginning of her remarks about Biden.

"Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation, and for all you will continue to do," Harris said. "We are forever grateful to you." Harris also complimented the crowd of attendees, saying it represented the "beauty of our great nation" with people from "every corner" of the country and every walk of life.

At the end you can see Doug say, "I didn't know" so it was definitely a surprise appearance and pretty cool. "Let us always remember, when we fight, we win," Harris said. Harris came out to Beyoncé's song "Fire" and received a standing ovation.

It's become the official campaign song for Harris and was also used during the movement in the wake of 's death. When Harris said "When we fight, we win," the crowd responded with a chant, "We win." Harris will be giving a longer speech on Thursday night to close out the four-day-long convention.

Harris' surprise energized the crowd at the convention, but the keynote address is going to be given by Biden on Monday night. Much of Monday was spent thanking Biden for his service to the country and he's expected to pass the torch formally to Harris during his speech. That new ad that just played at was FIRE.
