OaklandDorothy M. Robinson was born in Oakland, Florida, on February 13, 1922, to the late Arthur Mosby and Dora M. (Williams) Mosby.
She is predeceased by her husband, LeRoy Robinson, with whom she shared 65 years of married bliss. A son, Wayne Eric (Kimberly) Robinson, was born into this union, a testament to the deep love and joy she found in her family. Dorothy is also survived by a niece, Diana Marie Mosby, and a nephew, Michael (Xavier)Thomas, plus a host of other familymembers.
Not just a wife and mother, Dorothy’s career was a shining example of dedication and hard work.She held positions at the Watervliet Arsenal, Cluett Peabody, Tek Hughes, and the State of New York, retiring in 1983.Dorothy has been an active member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 80 years, serving in many auxiliaries and leadership positions, including Sunday School, Senior Choir, Floral Club, Christian Education, Hospitality Ministry, Leaders Council, and Retiree’s Club.
In the community, she was a former member of the Versatile Club, a women’s social group. Dorothy was deeply involved for many years in the Order of Eastern Stars.Dorothy’s life was filled with creativity and nurturing.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, decorating, and traveling. Her green thumb was a blessing, and she was known for her culinary skills, especially her Apple Cake and beautiful Jell-O molds. Dorothy was the go-to person when you wanted things to look decorative and delicious.
Dorothy was predeceased by two sisters, Annie Mae Epps and Mildred Thomas, and three brothers, Arthur Mosby, Wallace Mosby, and Julius Mosby.The family extends its gratitude to Bethel Baptist Church and its members for keeping Dorothy in their prayers, especially Penny Simon. The family is deeply grateful to the staff and leadership of Beechwood and Eddy Memorial for their unwavering care and support of Dorothy over the years.
The family also extends their heartfelt thanks to her private duty aides, who became family, especially Davelle (Dee) Cooper and Kristi Kownack.A going-home celebration will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church, 21655Th Avenue, Troy, New York. Calling hour is from 9:00 to 10:00, a celebration of life starting at 10:00am.
