But this time around, the music legend is collaborating with her family members, including her siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles on the new record. As part of the promotional push for the upcoming Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith and Fables, which tells the story of her family’s origins from the UK to Tennessee , the second single dropped featuring Dolly's niece Heidi Parton. Heidi, who is the daughter of Dolly's brother Randy Parton, sings the lead on A Rose Won't Fix It, while Dolly provides backup vocals on both the verses and choruses.



The song is an uptempo number that was originally written and recorded for Dolly's 1998 album Hungry Again three decades ago but didn't make the final cut. Clocking in at just under four minutes, A Rose Won't Fix It is just one of a whopping 37 songs that are on the upcoming album that bridges the journeys of the Partons, on her father's side, and the Owens family, on her mother's side. Dolly is one of 12 siblings, which breaks down to her having six brothers and five sisters, although eight of them are still living, including Willadeene, 84, David, 82, Coy, 81, Robert Jr.

, 76, Stella, 75, Cassie, 73, Freida, 67, and Rachel, 65. Three of her brothers have died: Larry, in 1955 when he was just a baby, Floyd in 2018 at age 61, and Randy in 2021 at age 67. Dolly's late mother Avie Lee Parton, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 80, sings on several tunes, as well as her late uncle Bill Owens and aunt Estelle Owens Watson. Niece Jada Star, who some fans know from her appearance on season two of the ABC competition series Claim To Fame, is featured with the likes of sisters Cassie, Stella, Rachel and Freida, who also get to take part in the grand idea.
