Clare Garrihy was fighting back tears as she told daughter Doireann that she is ‘absolutely mad’ about Doireann’s soon-to-be husband, Mark Mehigan. Doireann is set to walk down the aisle in the coming weeks after announcing her engagement to comedian Mark last November. The podcaster and former RTÉ broadcaster welcomed her beloved mum Clare onto the season finale of her podcast, Doireann and Friends , on Tuesday with Doireann seizing the opportunity to get Clare’s real feelings on Mark.
Immediately getting emotional, Clare shared how she had read Mark’s book while she was away with Doireann and revealed how the book left her with ‘tears of pride.’ Trying to compose herself, Clare stated: ‘I mean, he’s just an awesome guy. ‘He has put a glint in your eye; he’s put a pep in your step.

He is just hilarious. ‘Remember the time I offered him the nasal spray when he had sinusitis? Anyone else would be there like: “Oh my nose is all blocked up.” I said: “Mark, I have this nasal spray that I get in the pharmacy in Spain, and it’s very good and I have one that I haven’t even opened yet.
” I said: “Would you like to try it?” ‘He said: “Try it? Clare, anything that takes me out of this hell that I’ve been forced to reside in ...
”‘ Clare shared before erupting into laughter with Doireann. ‘Aw Jesus, I mean that’s what you’re dealing with, isn’t it?’ the mum-of-three said, ‘That is just typical of Mark. He just makes me laugh so much.
’ With Doireann and Mark jetting off for a six-week European trip , her sisters and bridesmaids Aoibhin and Ailbhe are going full steam ahead with the hen party planning . Speaking to RSVP Live, Ailbhe teased that ‘it’s all go’ but was tight-lipped as she noted everything was ‘top secret.’ ‘We’re very much looking forward to it,’ she said, adding that she ‘can’t wait to celebrate Doireann with her nearest and dearest.
