The Wandering Wight is a powerful enemy that you will run into early in Black Myth: Wukong. This dangerous enemy is quite the roadblock, but do you even need to fight him? Do you need to fight the Wandering Wight early in Black Myth: Wukong? The good news is that, no, you do not need to fight the Wandering Wight early. He is something of a trick enemy, designed to pummel you into submission and give a stiff challenge for those who want it or to inspire creative problem-solving in those who don’t.

He is also designed to be something of a training dummy, even if you are the person taking all the damage. If you don’t want to fight him, make sure you explore the rest of the area first. You can find an early boss called Guangzhi through the temple gate if you follow the path to the left.

He is an easier fight than the Wandering Wight and will have a nice reward for you that will actually be extremely helpful when it comes to taking out this big blue meanie. There are also some hidden brooks and ponds along the path on the left, near the original Shrine that you found when you first entered the area. Once you are sure you have the full area explored and want to move forward, just hug the extreme left or right of the area that the Wandering Wight is patrolling, and you will be able to make it past him if you are careful.

At the far end, you will find a gate leading to a dark decline and then a rickety wooden platform that leads all around the side of the mountain. This will eventually bring you to Guanyin Temple and your next shrine, which is a fast-travel spot. This also brings you to a tough fight, so dodging the Wandering Wight might not be all that beneficial if you are looking for a peaceful life.

There is a shrine here that you can use, but after that, all you can do is march forward and take on the might of Lingxuzi, the enormous wolf spirit of the forest. I do actually think that Lingxuzi is designed to be an easier fight than the Wandering Wight, so you might have more success here than you did in the previous area. The most important part is that the Wandering Wight does drop an important item, but you cannot even pick it up until you venture through another couple of areas and meet an NPC who gives you a very nice upgrade that allows you to collect Spirits.
