Natural remedies for kidney health is a topic which has often been debated. While some say there are certain herbs and foods that can improve kidney function, prevent kidney stones, and support overall renal health, others claim that these claims hold no scientific merit and lack evidence, and some may even be risky. Times Now Digital spoke to Dr Uday Dipakrao Gajare, Consultant Nephrologist, Asian institute of Nephrology and Urology Vizag about the impact of natural remedies on kidney diseases.

Hydration: FactDrinking enough water is one of the best ways to maintain kidney health. Proper hydration helps kidneys flush toxins, regulate blood pressure, and prevent kidney stones. Studies consistently show that water intake reduces the risk of kidney stones and improves urinary health, especially in people prone to stones.



Cranberry Juice: Mixed EvidenceCranberry juice is widely recommended for urinary tract health, particularly in preventing urinary tract infections (UTIs). Some studies support cranberry juice's role in preventing bacterial infections in the urinary tract, which could reduce the burden on the kidneys. However, it may not directly improve kidney health or function, and high sugar content in commercial cranberry juices can be a concern.
