A resident has spoken out about her “frustration” after her home's water supply has been cut off on a number of occasions this year. Astley Bridge locals most recently had to contend with no running water due to a burst water main on Thursday last week (October 17) , forcing supplier United Utilities to hand out bottled water. Nasim Ibrahim, who has lived on Kermoor Avenue for 11 years, says there have been instances where water flow has been affected “every year” since she moved there.

Ms Ibrahim said on an earlier occasion this year when there was no water, her neighbours' toilets were filled with faeces as they could not be flushed. She added: “It has happened on a number of occasions this year which is really frustrating. “It’s disrespectful to the residents because it has happened a few times where we’ve woken up and not had water.



“I’ve had to go to work without having a wash, which is obviously really annoying, and then had to do my washing at work.” Ms Ibrahim explained there are a number of vulnerable people on her street, some of which are elderly or have special needs. She said: “I’ve had people on my street message me and say they are struggling to explain to their children why their toilets are full of poo because they can’t flush them.

“Nobody came round with any water so I had to go to the shop and buy it for people, the elderly weren’t supported. “I want United Utilities to take account. “I’ve lived here every year and it .
