Remember at the end of Inside Out 2 , when Riley has a big scary secret and we get to find it out? Well, get those homosexual thoughts out of your head. Disney reportedly made notes to make Riley seem “less gay,” per a September 16 report by IGN , based on conversations with ten former Pixar employees. Depicting Riley’s relationship with older girl Val seem platonic was “a big thing throughout” the process of making Inside Out 2 , like editing lighting and tone to be less romantic, per one source who claimed that leadership was “uncomfortable” with what IGN refers to as “queer themes.

” Sources say Disney still blames a gay kiss for being the reason that Lightyear (2022) flopped so hard. (The scene was briefly removed, then restored after staff uproar.) “It is, as far as I know, still a thing, where leadership, they’ll bring up Lightyear specifically and say, ‘Oh, Lightyear was a financial failure because it had a queer kiss in it,’” a source told IGN.

This was a movie that our critic Alison Willmore wrote “languishes in an awkward netherland,” and “a project that feels born out of notes to make something broader, less weird, and overtly engineered to appeal to boys.” As the source continued: “That’s not the reason the movie failed.” Inside Out 2, a movie about a teen girl obsessing over an older female hockey player with a pink streak, is the biggest animated movie of all time.

That’s gay no matter the lighting..
