share 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Disney has shaken up its 2026 movie release calendar, replacing a Star Wars movie previously slated for a year-end release with Ice Age 6 . Now what are the odds of that , C-3PO? According to a report by Variety , the Star Wars project was removed from its scheduled release spot of 18 December 2026 and replaced by 20th Century Studio’s animated family flick. Although details of the removed film are unconfirmed, it could have been a continuation of Rey’s story after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker , with director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy at the helm, following news that the character, portrayed by Daisy Ridley, was viewed by Lucasfilm as the franchise’s “most valuable cinematic asset” .

That’s not to say that 2026 will be entirely void of Star Wars films, however, as director Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu has recently wrapped production and is set for a release on 22 May 2026 release, with another untitled film in the franchise following soon after on 17 December 2027. Advertisement ▼ In addition, it was also revealed earlier this month during the Star Wars Celebration that Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars trilogy , led by Star Wars Rebels co-creator Simon Kinberg, which some reports claim to be a Skywalker-less storyline separate from the main saga. On the other hand, Ice Age 6 was announced at D23 Brazil in early November, with Disney and 20th Century Animation confirming that the project was in the wo.
