At this ultimate gathering for Disney enthusiasts, the company announced plans to expand its fleet significantly and shared a sneak peek of the unique entertainment options slated for the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny ships, set to launch in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

Disney Cruise Line’s Growing Fleet The company plans to add four new ships to its already impressive lineup, aiming to provide even more families with the chance to enjoy its renowned dining, extraordinary entertainment, and exceptional service. Presently, the fleet consists of five operational ships with four more under construction. The announcement made over the weekend revealed that the total count will reach 13 ships by 2031.

These vessels are to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, with specific details on ship names, designs, and travel routes still under development. Premiere of ‘Disney Hercules’ Aboard Disney Destiny Scheduled for its maiden voyage in November 2025, the Disney Destiny will introduce an array of experiences inspired by iconic Disney characters, both heroes and villains. A highlight of these offerings will be the premiere of “Disney Hercules” at the Walt Disney Theatre.

This brand-new, Broadway-caliber stage show will bring the beloved Disney movie to life in a novel and dynamic way. Audiences can look forward to experiencing the well-known songs and vivid characters of “Disney Hercules” in a production that remains faithful to the original movie’s charm and narrative while introducing a contemporary twist designed specifically for theatrical presentation. In “Disney Hercules,” the Muses will reprise their role from the original film, serving as narrators and guiding the audience through the classic struggle between heroism and villainy.

The production will include all the cherished melodies from the movie, and it will also feature the song “Shooting Star” for the first time on stage. This adaptation will highlight the soundtrack’s blend of pop and gospel elements, showcasing new musical arrangements crafted by a team with broad expertise spanning both the theatrical and pop music spheres. Attendees will be treated to spectacular musical performances, outstanding vocal talent, eye-catching visual effects, and state-of-the-art projection technology.

This new addition, “Disney Hercules,” will join two other popular productions on the Disney Destiny: “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” and “Disney Seas the Adventure.” The latter integrates beloved Disney and Pixar characters into a vibrant show filled with well-known Disney melodies, creating a diverse lineup of entertainment that promises to captivate guests of all ages. Disney Cruise Line has recently offered a sneak peek into “Disney The Tale of Moana,” set to debut onboard the Disney Treasure later this year.

This stage adaptation translates Moana’s epic journey from the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film into a live performance for the first time. As anticipation builds for its premiere, audiences were treated to a rendering of one of the production’s pivotal scenes, promising to bring Moana’s adventures and her transformative coming-of-age story to life before an enthralled audience. The newly released scene from “Disney The Tale of Moana” showcases an exhilarating climax where Moana confronts Te Kā, the antagonistic lava monster, in a breathtaking standoff.

This moment is brought to life with an extraordinary fifteen-foot-tall puppet, setting a new record as the largest ever created for a Disney Cruise Line Broadway-style production. The puppet, embodying Te Kā, will transform on stage into her true form, Te Fiti, portrayed as a magnificent green goddess, symbolizing the restoration of balance and harmony. This production will feature a variety of beloved characters from “Moana,” all intricately reimagined as puppets, including a youthful Moana.

The puppetry, a central element of the show, is being crafted under the guidance of Jeff Conover, Disney Live Entertainment’s creative director of puppetry and articulation, alongside Michael Curry, renowned for his work on “The Lion King” Broadway show. Their collaboration is set to bring a unique and visually stunning dimension to this tale of bravery and self-discovery..
