Wednesday, August 28, 2024 Shinsegae Duty Free teams up with Korean art master Park Seo-Bo and Paul+Bani for a unique art collaboration at Incheon International Airport , South Korea . Shinsegae Duty Free , in partnership with the Seobo Art Foundation , is thrilled to unveil an innovative art initiative titled “ Park Seo-Bo X Paul+Bani Art Space ” at Incheon International Airport. This extraordinary project merges modern and classic art forms, presenting the masterpieces of the late Dansaekhwa pioneer, Park Seo-Bo, alongside Shinsegae’s cherished characters, Paul ` and Bani.

From August 24 to September 24, 2024, the “Park Seo-Bo X Paul+Bani Art Space” will be open to the public on the first floor of the Transportation Center at Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport. This initiative, part of the Korea International Art Fair, offers travelers and art lovers an immersive experience into Park Seo-Bo’s profound artistic journey while enjoying the creative flair of Paul+Bani. Paul+Bani: Art and Travel Enthusiasts Engaging with a Master’s Work Paul+Bani, beloved artist characters known for their passion for art and travel, embark on their fifth major collaboration by partnering with Park Seo-Bo.



Previously, they collaborated with global fashion brand Off-White and singer-songwriter Naul. In this exhibition, Paul+Bani dive into the contemplative and abstract world of Park Seo-Bo, offering a playful yet respectful reinterpretation of his iconic pieces. In this special showcase, Paul+Bani will reinterpret Park Seo-Bo’s “Ecriture 130119,” a work that embodies Park’s artistic philosophy and cherished memories.

The yellow tones of “Ecriture 130119” symbolize the smile of Park Seo-Bo’s wife, set against a backdrop of oilseed flowers, blending personal emotion with abstract expression. Celebrating Seven Decades of Artistic Innovation The exhibition titled “Park Seo-Bo: 70 Years of Art, A Journey of Self-Discipline and Challenge,” provides visitors with an in-depth exploration of the evolving techniques and thematic developments that have marked Park Seo-Bo’s illustrious career. The exhibit features the renowned “Ecriture” series along with previously unseen works from his early career.

Notable highlights include the “Protoplasm” series from the 1950s, which captures the intense emotions of youth during wartime through vibrant abstract forms, and the “Genetic” series from the 1960s, which incorporates traditional Korean colors and geometric abstractions. These works are celebrated as significant contributions to contemporary Korean art. A Unique Visitor Experience Enhancing the exhibition, actor Park Bo-Gum will serve as the audio guide, offering visitors a soothing narration as they explore the 70-year journey of Park Seo-Bo’s art, deepening their appreciation and understanding of the artist’s enduring legacy.
