The official title of the highly anticipated third installment in the Avatar series has been announced as Avatar: Fire and Ash . Director James Cameron , along with stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington, revealed the title during the D23 Expo on August 10. A post shared by Avatar (@avatar) Although Cameron didn't share any new footage from the upcoming movie, he reportedly unveiled concept art from Avatar: Fire and Ash.

One of the images depicted Neytiri, portrayed by Saldaña, performing a dance surrounded by flames, while another showed her riding a banshee. The film will release in theaters on December 19, 2025. Avatar stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington join Director James Cameron on the #D23 stage.

"It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it’s also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. We’re going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love." Saldaña and Worthington will reprise their roles as Neytiri and Jake, respectively. The Avatar franchise is set to continue beyond this third movie, with Avatar 4 scheduled for release on December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 on December 19, 2031. The original Avatar, released in 2009, remains the highest-grossing film of all time, while its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water , which hit theaters in December 2022, holds the position as the third highest-grossing film in history, Avengers: Endgame being the second.
