The official title of the highly anticipated third installment in the Avatar series has been announced as Avatar: Fire and Ash . Director James Cameron , along with stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington, revealed the title during the D23 Expo on August 10. One of the images depicted Neytiri, portrayed by Saldaña, performing a dance surrounded by flames, while another showed her riding a banshee. The film will release in theaters on December 19, 2025. Avatar stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington join Director James Cameron on the #D23 stage.

Saldaña and Worthington will reprise their roles as Neytiri and Jake, respectively. The Avatar franchise is set to continue beyond this third movie, with Avatar 4 scheduled for release on December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 on December 19, 2031. The original Avatar, released in 2009, remains the highest-grossing film of all time, while its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water , which hit theaters in December 2022, holds the position as the third highest-grossing film in history, Avengers: Endgame being the second.
