Superstar Mahesh Babu reportedly missed to bag a national award in the 70th National Awards as producer since his name was reportedly marked as he bank-rolled his message-centric ‘Sarkari Vaari Paata’, according to a reliable source. “Mahesh Babu’s name was registered as producer while submitting for national awards committee, although he was a partner along with Mythri Movie Makers and 14 Reels Entertainment,” says a source who adds, “If the film was selected as best film, Mahesh Babu would have personally received the award from President of India and it would suit his stature and charisma,’ he adds. The makers believed that Mahesh Babu's tirade against rich bank defaulters and his support for small and middle-class loanees had enough meat to impress the jury members who were looking for movies which also have a topical theme.

“Bank recovery agents troubling people who have obtained smaller loans, while leaving big guns scotfree has been a topical issue. They questioned this disparity and had some chance,” he points out. On the work front, Mahesh Babu after tasting success with ‘Guntur Kaaram’ is gearing up for his magnum opus with ace director S S Rajamouli.

“It will be the biggest film of his career and he is going to impress viewers worlover,” he concludes..
