Fans are saying “Gimme More.” Blake Lively wore a stunning Versace gown , which was previously worn by Britney Spears in 2002, to Tuesday’s NYC premiere of “It Ends With Us.” The head-turning look sparked online chatter that the tribute could signal Lively is hoping to play the pop princess in her upcoming biopic, which was announced last week.

“Blake Lively is a true Britney Spears stan,” one fan wrote on X. “Her showing her love for Brit in such an honest & adoring way makes me think she’d be a good candidate for the biopic. Another noted the resemblance between the two in side-by-side photos in the dress and wrote, “Could this be a teaser that Blake is going to play Brit Brit in the movie about her book?” One fan noted that both the “Gossip Girl” alum and husband Ryan Reynolds are huge fans of the pop princess.

“Remember when Ryan Reynolds was part of the FreeBritney movement,” they wrote . “..

..well I think it’s safe to say the couple are true hardcore Britney Stans and Britney may love the idea of Blake playing her.

Just saying.” But multiple industry insiders are nixing the theory, telling Page Six that sometimes a dress is just a dress. “Blake wearing Britney’s dress was not a subliminal message about the biopic,” a source exclusively tells Page Six.

Instead, it only came from a place of love. “She’s just a fan,” the source continues, “and Britney’s song is in ‘It Ends With Us,’ so it’s a nod to that, too.” Also, as the insider notes, it is way too early to start bandying around names.

“There haven’t been any formal discussions about casting for the biopic yet,” the source adds. “Only people attached to the project casually throwing out names amongst themselves. “It’s too soon, there isn’t even a script yet.

” A casting source tells Page Six that Lively has no reason to use the dress to signify she wants to play Spears because she’s already very famous. The source adds that it would make more sense for an up-and-coming actress to do to that if they’re vying for the role. Another source close to Lively adds, “It doesn’t read to me like that at all.

” The dress also fit into the floral theme that Lively has used during the movie’s press tour, tying into her character, Lily Bloom, who works as a florist. The “Gossip Girl” alum, 36, channeled the pop icon with the Versace gown that Spears wore to the brand’s spring 2003 runway show during Milan Fashion Week. “It is Britney’s actual dress,” Lively told People ahead of the debut of the Justin Baldoni-directed flick.

“It should be in the Smithsonian [Institution] or the Met[ropolitan Museum of Art], but it’s on me.” And the “A Simple Favor” star explained just what Spears, 42, meant to her at the premiere. “She was just somebody who represented love and beauty and youth and hard work and determination and strength,” she told Extra TV.

“And she was in touch with her sexuality and her delicacy, and she just sort of represented it all.” And the gushing didn’t stop there. On her Instagram Story, the actress posted a photo of a joyous Spears in the dress.

“Todays [sic] mood,” she wrote. “The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories.” The “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” star then spoke to the pop icon directly.

“Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work.” She then went on to thank Spears — whose upcoming biopic is based off her 2023 memoir, “The Woman in Me” — for her “example” and “contribution to women telling their stories.” The mother of four was joined at the premiere by Reynolds and a gaggle of other celebs including her sister, Robyn Lively, Jenny Slate and Hugh Jackman.
